Dear Darkness

Oh the darkness, I see you creeping up on me 
The stench of your wickedness lingering all around
Feels like the heart is being pumped with iron
Heavy... Heavy...Heavy!
Looks like the Devil has borrowed all my light
Like a loan shark he stole it, every ounce of it
I feel weak and brittle and lost
Wandering into your territory without a candle
I walk wearing my heart and mind on each foot
And they ache as they are torn by the traps you set
The blood they spill you drink and feast
Oh darkness, why play with me my friend? 
Why not consume me in one go, why eat me an inch at a time
The little light that shines now and then means nothing anymore
Take my eyes away so that I can see no more
Let the darkness be my guide
Drain me of emotions coz all that I ever feel is sorrow and pain
In exchange, let me rest. peacefully!
My friend, I am tired. Let me rest. Put me to sleep on your lap
Sing me a lullaby and I will forget everything and rest
