Offering of a Shepherd
How ashamed was I to even lift my face towards your light?
My heart shivered at the thought of talking to you
My sins, the trophies I hung in my heart, like idols you hated
Clouded my prayers and soul!
Day after day YOU would seek my soul
To save me from the path I was so eager to tread on
My Lord, My God!
Drenched in wickedness, stinking and rotting, I lay in my bed
Drowning in my selfish desires I adulterated my soul.
The pain I inflicted on you without a thought
Who does God turn to when He is hurt?
Can the Commander of the Armies of God comfort You?
Can all the prophets calm you heart?
Can the Song of David wipe your tears?
Like a stubborn mule I strayed away from your path
Shut my heart from you
Hid my covenant with you
My Father, My Lord! Yet, how swiftly you came to rescue?
How far is Sinai from the broken heart?
How far way is God from my thoughts?
How far am I from the chosen tribe?
None of these mattered when I fell into your arms.
All I had to do was fall from the heights I had climbed
The mountains I had built for myself
To be a simple shepherd of my one sheep - my heart!
The offering of a simple shepherd was worth million more than the one King offered!
My heart shivered at the thought of talking to you

Clouded my prayers and soul!
