Endless Dreams
I saw military men and police officers in pressed uniforms
Fascinated by their trimmed hair and shaven faces and bold body movements I dreamt of becoming one
Lying down on the wall on the roof, listening to The Beatles, Bee Gees, Kenny Rogers
Watching the deep dark skies I dreamt of going to the U.S
May be watch a live concert, play in the snow and be carefree
Driven by curiosity, questions in my tiny head about what lies beyond the skies and stars?
Watch the meters fall, explain what Sapthrish Madal is
Read the first chapter in Physics text books from senior classes
Just because they explained about Astronomy,
Watch the Space Shuttle Columbia crumble and cried in the bathroom
Dreamt of going to the outer space, possibly meet an alien and become an Astronomer
Heard about Galileo in my English classes, the experiments he did
Watching the pendulum move while checking the pulse
Dropping objects from the top of The Leaning Tower of Pisa
Climbed up on the roof and dropped objects to see if Gravity would work the same
Promised myself I would become a scientist
Loved Bret Lee, imitated him and nailed a whopping 7 wicket Man of the Match in school, again wanted to play more but failed
Wrote my first program at 17 - fascinated by how computers work, thought I would become a Computer Science Engineer
Became one though :-)
Fell in love with Guitar, got my hands dirty and dreamt of playing it in front of huge crowd,
I should say I partially did it
Listened to poems, Rudyard Kipling's IF, the one I could never forget
Wrote what I call poems with no meter or rhyme
Dreamt of creating something new,own a company that revolutionizes in the field of Computers - like Jobs of course
Learnt many things, things I work on, stuff I never used in my line of work
Felt the gap in how I was taught versus how it was supposed to be taught
Fourier Transforms, Matrices, Calculus, Algebra
Experienced the beauty of Mathematics and thought I should probably become a professor
Wanted to study more, went ahead and cleared exams, got admissions but failed to fly
Fell in love with cooking, dreamt of owning a small cafe
Well, there was too much noise, there still is,
Dreamt of escaping into the wild, into the unknown
Into the calm!
This is to remind myself how foolish I was, I am.
At the same time, how insanely fascinating my imagination was.
I wonder how long and far the insanity can stretch before it breaks.
