O Captain! My captain!
O Captain! My captain!
They filled the houses and streets with lights
And adulterated the purity of night.
The romance, beauty and love - the one captain spoke about
You took it away, forever, in a moment.
There I was composing a joke, brewing laughter
Sharing a passionate exchange of pain drenched in laughter
Dressed in hope I stood there
The little prayer my lips uttered, unheard, unknown
Yet I believed it brought a sense of relief
Like every other human would!
O Captain! My captain!
Will follow the path soon enough
Till then would there be anyone,
Anyone to argue about Medicine and Engineering?
The passion, Love you had for Science
The never ending stories that sailed the galaxies
The humor infused in and around you
A trait that brought smiles and comfort
Would I ever see one that resonates with yours?
O Captain! My captain!
Life steered us apart,
And time aged before I even realized it
The pain you had to endure,
Who amongst us could fathom.
The smiles hid it away so neatly
That we forgot the time was short. It was dying!
O Captain! My captain!
The love and respect you earned till you drifted away
Would be engraved in my poetry forever!
Rest Well!
