Jagged Memory
Oh the smoke and the mirrors show the world in colors
They see me, they see you, they see us but not see us, truly
today I heard them fight, ages 4 10s, strong and raging
I heard them fight, loud and clear
I knew not what it was about. But the kids, the kids struggling to stop it
When I heard him struggle, that was when the sword cut through
Wasn't I the same? Scared! Angry! Weak!
A side of heart full of Love while the other filled with hatred
I ran away from all the noises, unto the roofs where the Sky was clear
How I remember each detail. I would lay down on the ridge
staring into the deep black skies and the stars
how I would talk to them in silence, the calm, was that when I fell in love with her?
The sky would show her limitless beauty
No roof to stop me from from flying high, away from the noises
I would become an Owl. Exploring the seas in the sky
I would fly without making a noise, away from all the shouting
For a brief while, I would find strength in the never ending glory of the skies
I would count the stars, trying to discover the madness in me
How long has it been, my friend? It was decades ago, it was yesterday, it is today
Do you think anything has changed?
They say change is the only constant
but what looks like a constant to someone is a variable in our life
it just changes the form, can we say the Moon is lost during an eclipse?
It exists, just like you and I, just like the circumstances, it exists
But the way everyone sees changes.
