Glutton For History

Like gluttons we gathered for a feast.
Sucking on the bone marrow of history
The more we ate, the hungrier we got

In search of gourmet we traveled
From the east to the west with young and curious hearts
There came a cross road of history
Fighting with thoughts, we stood at the fork
Wondering which way is correct,
Is it this way, our history books taught
Or that way, the history is teaching.

One after the other, several anecdotes we heard
About figures revered as heroes in books
While we uncovered the veils to see the villainy under the hood
And of heroes with bosoms unsung,
Those who failed to grab a page in Wikipedia
Buried under the behemoth of religious politics.

Our history, as we know today, we realized
Torn apart part by part, refined and painted in colors
Beautified with religions and decorated with fake wars
Written by historians with currency filled bellies
Is a lie served at expensive price in golden plates.

Feeding on these lies we breed diseases
Diseases full of hatred for nations and races
Diseases which are breeding grounds for color discrimination
Diseases that go un-diagnosed until we rot away.
